Group Fitness Classes - January, February and March 2010

Aqua Kick

Kick your workout up a notch with Aqua Kick! Designed for swimmers and nonswimmers, participants will swim a variety of kick sets, including kicking with a board and fins. Kicking works those hard-to-reach thigh, calf and abdominal muscles.

Arthritis Aquatics*+

Gentle movements in a heated pool help relieve arthritis pain and stiffness, while increasing joint flexibility and range of motion. Led by Arthritis Foundation-certified instructors in the recreation pool.

Monday, Wednesday, Friday - 10-11 am, 11 am-noon

 

Arthritis Aquatics - Deep Water*+

Advanced Arthritis Aquatics class taught in the recreation pool, provides a greater challenge for participants who are able to tolerate more than the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program. A combination of shallow and deep-water activities, the class improves muscle strength, endurance and cardiovascular fitness.

Arthritis Aquatics - Warm Water *+

Gentle movements in warm water therapy pool help relieve arthritis pain and stiffness, while increasing joint flexibility and range of motion. Led by Arthritis Foundation-certified instructors.

Awesome Abs

A great abdominal workout!

Body Chisel

A hard-core workout for the total body, specifically targeting those hard-to-tone areas.

Body Max

The ultimate fun and challenging workout. Blends circuit-style strength trainging with rock 'n' jam cardio, rhythmic power sticks, cardio combat, leg bands and pumping weights.

Cardio Blast

A high-energy class with a different mix of cardio formats, including hi/lo, step, hip-hop and kickboxing.

Cycling

An awesome workout on a bike with no impact to the joints. Ideal for all fitness levels, as you adjust your own resistance. Do not forget your water bottle ... you will need it!

Cy-Yo

A new twist in group exercise - two top classes rolled into one. A 1-hour workout combining 40 minutes of speed cycling on a stationary bike with 20 minutes of yoga to cool down and refocus the mind and body.

Deep-water Aerobics

A high-intensity water workout in the deep end. Aqua belts are worn, so swimming experience is not necessary.

Flex and Tone+

A staple class at Fitness Plus where flexibility and strength are enhanced and lifetime friendships are formed.

Gliding

Unique sliding disc exercise system that allows for smooth, fluid, graceful movements. The exercises work multiple muscles while engaging core stabilization throughout the range of motion. Incorporates body sculpting, balance, flexibility, core and cardio.

Hi/Lo Aerobics

A high-intensity aerobic workout on the floor.

Hip Hop Hustle

Burn up the dance floor while burning calories, too, with this new class that blends hip-hop music and dance moves. No experience required; dance moves are simple and easy to follow.

Jammin' Cardio - NEW

Dancing to hot beats combined with cardio powersticks and squats with a variety of challenges using a body bar and hand weights in body-sculpting combos. High-energy class!

Kickboxing

A high-energy class full og jabs, kicks and uppercuts. You will focus on technique, safety, fun and sweat.

Line Dancing

Bring your dancing shoes for this fun workout. A variety of music, steps and dances. Appropriate for all ages and fitness levels.

Navy Seals - NEW

Boot Camp meets Deep-water Aerobics. Challenging deep-water class for improving strength and endurance. Confident swimmers only. Bring goggles.

Rep Reebok™

Reebok University reinvents traditional strength training in a group exercise setting. A great, pre-choregraphed group workout with barbells, dumbbells, and the Reebok deck or core board. Typically, the music and choreography change every six weeks, but for the summer, we are going to shock your body with Rep Reebok Madness! Routines will change every two weeks! Define yourself! Dates for new music and choreography are July 11 and 25, August 8 and 22 and September 5 and 19.

Interval training is known to be one of the most effective means of conditioning and toning. This class alternates between high-intensity step and sculpting for a complete body workout.

STOTT PILATES® (Power)

Walkin' to the Beat+

Offers poses and modifications for every level of yoga mastery; using all body systems in harmony to address core strength, flexibility, balance, mediation and various breathing techniques.

Yoga in a Warm Room

For these yoga sessions, the room will be heated up. Heat keeps muscles more flexible and less susceptible to injury.

Yoga Stretch

Learn the basics of yoga while you increase body awareness, strength and flexibility. We recommend the class as a steppingstone to our other yoga classes. Rated a 2 in difficulty on a scale of 1-4.

Zumba®

Latin dance-inspired fitness class. It is a cardio-based workout with some components of resistance/sculpting training to tone the entire body from top to bottom and inside out. Dance experience helps but not required. New choreography launch date is August 22.

All classes are 55 minutes in length unless otherwise noted. Anyone 13 years and older may attend classes held during dependant hours (5-7:30am, 9-11am, 2:30-5:30pm, 7pm-close). Classes on this schedule are subject to change. Please check the Group Exercise Bulletin Board for notices regarding cancellations, changes in format or substitute instructors.
